Yzané De Jager
Originally from a small farming town in rural South Africa, Yzane has been drawn to creative expression since childhood.
Growing up in the 1980s and '90s, access to formal art education was limited in her region. Yet, her innate talent was undeniable. At age 15, her parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in a school in a neighboring town - one of the few places nearby with a dedicated art teacher. Under his mentorship, Yzane's skills flourished, and by 17, her work was exhibited internationally in a gallery in the USA.
Yzane later earned a degree in graphic design, but her creative journey has always been one of exploration and evolution. She has moved fluidly through photography, clay, jewelry design, charcoal, textiles, and ultimately returned to her first love - painting.
Art style
Today, Yzane is known for her vibrant, color-blocked paintings that blend realism with emotional depth. Her work often features human figures and scenes evoking nostalgia, retro charm, and holiday warmth
Each piece infused with energy and imagination. A particular passion for underwater photography has also become a strong influence, allowing her to translate the fluid, dreamlike experience of being submerged in water onto canvas.
